A little post but a lot of love- the Favilla...
I recently revisited the village of Elsah, IL (where I took pictures of high school senior, Libby, not too long ago), for a portrait session with the Favilla family. I’ve photographed enough families and children to be filled with a healthy bit of “okay, *deep breath*… here we go!” when I start a session with a toddler, so when Mom Christine told me that they have TWO...

Gwen & Mark- Newlyweds :)
Who says Spring is the season for lovebirds? Last week I got to photograph another truly adorable couple amidst the beautiful fall foliage: Gwen and Mark Caputo. These two have been married only 10 months, which makes them still newlyweds in my book! It was very obvious that they are crazy about each other… see for yourself. :)

Kate & Tyson (plus Soder the dog :)
Last week I had the most fun working with beautiful couple Kate & Tyson and their energetic dog, Soder, for an extended photo session in Forest Park. I loved this couple’s energy, their style, their chemistry, and it sure didn’t hurt that they looked like they just stepped out of a magazine spread. :) We found some really gorgeous spots in the park and pushed the portrait session into the...

Mairin & Dan
On 10/16 I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Mairin & Dan, a couple that was so clearly madly in love, that hardly any posing was required all day- they just couldn’t stop themselves from being all cute and darling and loving on each other every minute! We had a gorgeous full day in Forest Park with a ceremony at the Jewel Box (which had such gorgeous natural light...

Kelsey
On Tuesday I had an awesome photo shoot in Forest Park with Kelsey Lynn McDowell, a senior at Rockwood Summit High School. She’s into politics and choir, and has a great classic style of dress that is VERY Jackie-O. Kelsey has a knock-out smile, gorgeous eyes, a cute dimple, and the girl knew how to WORK her poses! (More than one Tyra Banks reference was made- this girl was FIERCE!). I had...

Sweet Little Family of Three
On Sunday I got to photograph the adorable family of a friend who goes back a generation. My mom was college roommates at Mizzou and dear friends with Susan, the mother of Emily and grandmother of Kate (16 months old). Fast forward to 1998 when Susan and my mom are both helping their eldest daughters apply to colleges, and they find out that both girls were considering Rice University in...

The Summers in Fall
On Friday afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing a darling family amidst the fall leaves in Bee Tree Park. The Summers family, including Mom & Dad (Cheryl & Shawn) and adorable daughters Claire (almost 9) and Ella (just turned 3) were great to work with. Ella was a typical toddler bundle of energy who had trouble sitting still and got a little tired of the photo shoot until we...

Libby
On Monday I got to photograph a pretty cool and unique girl, Libby, for her senior portraits. When her parents told me we were doing the pictures in the “village” of Elsah, Illinois, where their family lives, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect (honestly, who lives in a village?). But as I turned my car onto one of the three streets of Elsah, I was immediately transported back in...

Kelly and Kyle get hitched in style!
Forgive me, I know that title rhymes, but I am a bit sleepy so I did not resist when it came to me. :) This past Saturday I got to work with a photographer who’s work I greatly respect and admire, Timothy Pastor of Artisan Photography, to photograph the beautiful wedding of Kelly and Kyle. This adorable couple had a 15 month long engagement, and it certainly showed with all the planning...

Soft Surroundings- A Cover Story
I got a surprising but very exciting phone call a few weeks ago from the senior editor of a national magazine published out of Dallas, TX. The magazine is called InStore (although, ironically enough, it is a DIFFERENT magazine than the last national magazine I was published in by the same name) and is distributed to close to 60,000 retail store owners across the country. The magazine is doing a...

Happy Birthday, Oma!
I think the Fischer family had a great idea to honor their mother/grandmother, who they call Oma (German for grandmother), for her 70th birthday with a gift that any grandmother would love: a family portrait of the whole crew! So on Sunday afternoon this beautiful family of 10 (big groups are a fun challenge for me!) met up in Tower Grove Park in St. Louis for their photo shoot. They choose to...

The Shaw Nature Reserve
This afternoon I went for a hike in the Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray’s Summit, Missouri. It is so beautiful there, I wanted to chop down some logs and start building myself a cabin right there in the middle of the prairie grass fields and wild flowers. The landscape is just breathtaking, and I happened to be there right in the golden hour of evening, with beautiful light falling everywhere....

A Beautiful Remodel!
So normally I photograph a lot of people. I kind of love working with people, and it would be hard for me to tell you which I would enjoy photographing more: a newborn, a child, a family, a high school senior, a loving couple, or a wedding! However, I was still excited earlier this week to mix things up a bit and do an interior architecture shoot. The very talented Daniela Cottingham of RSI...
