When spring comes to St. Louis, it comes overnight…. months of cold and grey, yucky skies, then suddenly you feel the temperatures rising just a little bit, and then… BAM!…. one day you look out your window and every tree on your street is in full bloom with white and pink and purple flowers, yellow daffodils spring up on the side of the road, and the streets are paved with petals. The spring burst comes quickly and fades quickly, with the most eager flowering trees blooming and fading within just a few days. Spring always sneaks up on me, but this time I was keeping an eye out for it, because I just treated myself to a brand new Nikon 105mm, f2.8 macro lens, and I was eager for some gorgeous flowers to try it out on! So on Sunday I took my lovely new lens to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, where the flowers are gorgeous, and just had fun walking around and shooting for about an hour. Spring, of course, brings love in the air, and I must say that it didn’t take long for me to become very smitten with my new toy! For my photographer followers…. this glass is awesome. I was walking around the gardens just saying, “THIS. IS. AMAZING.” You can get in and focus SO CLOSE!!!! I’m in macro love. :) My only complaint is that I’m going to want to spend 30 minutes at every wedding just photographing the rings. :) Don’t worry, brides and grooms… I will somehow restrain myself! Anyway- here are a few of my favorites from the gardens. Welcome, spring!
